Primavera qualify for play-offs in race for Scudetto

KE

Following Saturday's 1-1 away draw with Ternana, Alberto De Rossi's Primavera side have qualified for the play-off round of the Primavera championship.

The Under-19s - reigning champions in the competition - finished fourth in group C of the tournament, after Virtus Entella won against Frosinone on the final day of the league campaign to move ahead of them.

Final table: Atalanta 63, Inter 60, Virtus Entella 56, Roma 53, Genoa 51, Bologna 48, Palermo 38, Novara 33, Crotone 32, Ternana 25, Cagliari 24, Frosinone 17, Pisa 14, Salernitana 7.

That means De Rossis's side will have to come through the play-off rounds in order to reach the Final Eight once again.

Play-off schedule

After taking 53 points from the regular season, Roma has the best record of all the fourth-placed finishers in the respective groups - so they will play the first round of the play-offs at home against Sassuolo.

The game will take place on Saturday May 20 (TBC) and, if the Giallorossi win, they will come up against the victorious side from the clash between Virtus Entella and Genoa.

That game will take place the following Saturday, May 27 (again, TBC).

The winner of that tie will reach the Final Eight, the knockout stage to decide the Scudetto winner, which takes place from June 2-10 in Reggio Emilia, Modena and Sassuolo.
