Fazio, 30, has been called into to the squad to replace Barcelona's Javier Mascherano - and could make his first international appearance since 2014 if he appears in either game.
He will join Roma teammate Leandro Paredes in the squad; with the young midfielder in line for his international debut in one one of the matches, which take place in Australia and Singapore.
Fazio has earned three caps for the Albiceleste so far in his career. He was also a member of the squad that took gold at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Former Chile and current Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli has recently agreed to take over as coach of the Argentina national team.
