Dzeko reflects on battling Atletico performance

DZKEO

Edin Dzeko took the opportunity to clarify some of his post-match comments on Wednesday, in the wake of Roma's Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid.

In a battling, attritional game Dzeko - Serie A's reigning top goalscorer - was restricted to only a handful of clear sights of goal, and cut a frustrated figure as he walked through the mixed zone after the match.

After some of his comments were reported in the media, Dzeko took to Instagram to better express his thoughts.

"Yesterday was a very difficult game, having to fight for every ball," Dzeko wrote. "I wanted to make a bigger contribution but in games like this it isn’t always easy – and because of this at the end of the game I wasn’t very pleased.

"I am sorry if my words after the game were taken as criticism. I think the ideas of the coach are the right ones and we will keep doing everything we can in order to get the results we want. Daje Roma!"
