The versatile Italy international visited the Guicciardini institute in central Rome, where he handed out present to the youngsters in attendance, and also explained to them why fair play, sportsmanship and empathy are important qualities to have both on and off the pitch.
Afterwards, Florenzi spoke to Roma TV about the return of Serie A action - with the Giallorossi facing Inter Milan and Sampdoria (twice) in the space of seven days.
“On Sunday we have an important match against a big side like Inter," Florenzi said. "We need to turn around our recent bad form which has put us a bit behind the others over the last few weeks.
"We’re trying not to think too much about the past but instead think about doing well in the present, game after game, going out on the pitch and using the frustration we feel, the anger that has built up after the last few games.”
Coming up are a series of tough matches, you need to be very prepared – especially mentally…
“Certainly. The mentality is an important part of how we will approach the three tough games we will play in the space of a week. But at Roma you know you have to do the best to bring home as many points as possible.”
Is knowing Luciano Spalletti’s methods an advantage or a disadvantage?
“It’s an advantage. We know a little but their weak points, but he will know a few of ours too. It will certainly be a great game to watch and a real spectacle.”
