3x3: Alisson, Serie A Player of the Year and Ibrahimovic

Roma fans Kris from Edmonton and Tony from New York are joined by Pete from AS Roma Matchworn, as they are put to the test with three topical football questions…

The Roma Question: Have you been surprised by Alisson’s form so far this season?

Kris / @krispucci: “I am astonished by his form. Who knew last season that we had such a gem as second choice? Wojciech Szczesny leaving was a blessing in disguise. He is so skilled and humble which makes him all the more likeable. I just hope we can hold onto him for many years to come.”

Tony / @TheRealTI215: “I have been blown away by Alisson's form! It was tough to see Szczesny walk over the summer, given the fact that he was the best keeper in the league last season and we only had a very small sample size of Alisson (a few Europa League and Coppa Italia games). I think his reactions are world class, paired with his commanding presence and passing abilities and we have ourselves a plug at goalkeeper for many years to come.”

Pete / @ASRomaMatchworn: “Yes, it’s hard not to be. The levels he has achieved has been the one shining light in an otherwise disappointing season thus far.”

The Serie A Question: Excluding Alisson, who is an early contender for Serie A Player of the Season?

@krispucci: “I really like Lucas Torreira [of Sampdoria] and Milan Skriniar [Inter Milan]. Though, I think the award will go to Mauro Icardi [Inter] or Dries Mertens [Napoli] if they can keep their current pace up – with a slight edge to Mertens due to his more involved role as a creator.”

@TheRealTI215: “I think given Napoli's position at the table and the way they bring joy back to the game, my vote goes to Marek Hamsik. He's pulling all the strings and even scoring some goals himself. Easily the most important player on the best team.”

@ASRomaMatchworn: “Difficult one. Juventus and Napoli have a lot of contenders. Mertens has taken his game to another level for me. Sadly, Miralem Pjanic looks very strong too.”

The General Football Question: Should Ibrahimovic move to Major League Soccer or should he retire in Europe?

@krispucci: “Ibra is a brand and has always followed the buck throughout his career. His skill and showmanship would be a perfect fit for MLS.”

@TheRealTI215: “This one is difficult for me to answer. I think in Ibra's mind, he believes he's too good for MLS, and if he were to come, his ego would get in the way and he may not give his best effort. Speaking as a MLS fan, however, I'd love to see him here!”

@ASRomaMatchworn: “Not fussed either way. Talented, self-obsessed and past his best. So I guess MLS would suit him best.”
