The Giallorossi romped to a 3-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico, thanks to three second half goals from Kostas Manolas, Daniele De Rossi and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
“We struggled a bit in the first half, we didn’t quite have the right approach to the game,” the defender said. “After the break we showed our ability, scoring three goals and playing well as well.
He added: “We are trying to show resilience every game. We have won tonight and we must continue like this, now we have a huge game that can change the complexion of our season: reaching the quarter-finals would be great. We have to do it for our fans.”
The night saw Alisson Becker make his 50th appearance for the Giallorossi – a milestone he marked with yet another clean sheet.
The Brazilian now has 12 in Serie A this season.
“It’s a big guarantee having Alisson behind us, he’s a great goalkeeper,” Jesus added. “I have known him for 12 years, we have been playing together since we very small.
“We always knew that he would be a top player and now he is showing that with the national team and with Roma.”
