Perotti sees signs of old Roma after latest win

IAG

Diego Perotti paid tribute to Cengiz Under after another game-changing display from the young forward, as Roma beat Udinese 2-0 on Saturday.

The Argentine winger - who grabbed the clinching goal in the final minutes of the contest at the Dacia Arena - said he saw signs of the old Giallorossi during the performance, which saw Roma make it three wins from three ahead of this week's return to Champions League action.

“We're getting back to playing the way we were earlier in the season," Perotti said. "We'd taken our foot off the accelerator a bit and that shouldn't happen.

"We needed to start winning again because we have a tricky run of games coming up.”

Is today's win a boost for morale?

“It's a vital win because it's really tough in the league this season. Apart from Juventus and Napoli, everyone else is dropping points. We had to win these three games before our Champions League match. Now we can focus on Shakhtar.”

Is the buzz around Cengiz [Under] contagious?

“I'm really happy for him because he's so down to earth. He doesn't speak Italian yet but he's very polite and has been since the first day he came in. He's a smashing lad and he deserves it.”

It must have been good to get back on the score sheet yourself...

“It was important for me and the team too. We were struggling a little and it's always dangerous if you don't kill games off. But yes, on a personal level it's always great to score.”
