Vaccination open days at the Olimpico this week

On Wednesday and Thursday this week the Stadio Olimpico will become a vaccine hub, allowing residents of the city to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Thanks to a collaboration between Regione Lazio and AS Roma, citizens from throughout Lazio will be able to head to the stadium without a booking in order to get one of their jabs against the virus.

On Wednesday the hub will be on Piazza del Foro Italico, while on Thursday Viale delle Olimpiadi will be the staging ground - with Moderna the vaccine on offer.

On-site will be a full team of medics, nurses and administrative personnel - ensuring all vaccines are administered correctly, and that those receiving them will subsequently be able to access their EU Green Pass.

What is more, fans who get a vaccine will receive a discount code on the purchase of their next ticket for an AS Roma home match.

“From the very start of the pandemic, AS Roma has gone to great lengths to help its fans and the city of Rome to confront the many challenges Covid has brought,” said Guido Fienga, the club’s CEO.

“We have distributed masks across the region, along with protective equipment to health workers and pulmonary ventilators to hospitals. Now we stand alongside Regione Lazio, and the various institutions implementing the ongoing vaccination campaign, to encourage our fans to protect themselves with the vaccine.

“We hope to be able to announce as soon as possible that, thanks to the vaccine, all those Roma fans who are vaccinated will be able to enter the stadium and follow the team they love without any further restrictions.”

Vaccinations will be available at the following times:

    Wednesday: 14:00 - 18:00
    Thursday: 14:00 - 20:00

In the wider region of Lazio, over 8 million vaccines have been issued - with more than 85% of the adult population having been vaccinated. Considering all those over 12 years of age, 81% have been vaccinated.

The vaccine will be available to children over the age of 12, as the region looks to limit the spread of the virus as much as possible.

"This is a smart initiative and I would like to thank AS Roma for this offer to support the vaccine programme in our region," said Nicola Zingaretti, the president of Regione Lazio.

"The message I want to send is one based on facts: do not be afraid of the vaccine, because it is the one method we have at our disposal to defeat the virus and get back to enjoying our freedom."
