Bove, Darboe and Zalewski all sign new contracts!

AS Roma are delighted to announce that agreements have been reached for the contract extensions of three of the club’s most promising young players.

AS Roma are delighted to announce that three of the club's most promising young players have agreed long-term contract extensions.

Edoardo Bove, Ebrima Darboe and Nicola Zalewski have all committed their futures to the Giallorossi, after progressing through the club’s youth system to reach the first team squad over the course of 2021.

Bove and Zalewski have both penned new deals with the club that run until 30 June 2025.

Darboe, meanwhile, has signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2026.

“The extensions of these three contracts serve as further evidence of the approach the club wants to continue taking with its young players,” said Tiago Pinto, AS Roma’s General Manager.

“As a club we will continue to put our faith in the raw talent that comes through the academy system, guiding them as they develop as players and instilling in them the right work ethic and approach to their craft.

“I also hope these three renewals will provide further motivation – and satisfaction - to all those who dedicate their work to the club’s youth sector, and that this proves to be just the beginning of a productive approach that brings with it many more great rewards.”

All three players have been part of Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad since the beginning of the 2021-22 season, having previously made their professional debuts during the current calendar year.

Darboe, 20, was the first to break into the first team – making his debut against Sampdoria in May. The midfielder formally joined the club’s youth team in January 2019, going on to establish himself as a crucial member of the Primavera team before progressing to the first-team setup at the end of the 2020-21 season.

He has since gone on to make a total of 11 appearances for the club, while he has also made his international debut for Gambia this year.

Zalewski, 19, also made his debut in May this year – coming on as a substitute during the Europa League semi-final meeting with Manchester United. Having joined Roma in October 2011 as a nine-year-old, the winger is now a full Poland international and has made seven appearances for the first team.

Midfielder Bove, also 19, was the last of the trio to make his professional debut; he came on as a substitute in another May game, this time at home to Crotone. An Italy youth international who currently plays for the Under-20s, Bove was 10 years old when he joined the club’s academy.

He has also made seven appearances for the team to date, including starting in the recent Europa Conference League win over CSKA Sofia.

    Congratulations to all three!
