Bavagnoli: More improvement required to stop in-form Sassuolo

Roma Women coach Betty Bavagnoli knows they will be in for a tough challenge when they face an in-form Sassuolo side on Saturday afternoon.

The Neroverdi have been the surprise package of the season so far, sitting third in the table as teams embark on the second half of the campaign.

And the Giallorosse, who are looking to recover after a difficult start to the season, know they will need to take another big step forward in their progress if they are to take three points at Stadio Tre Fontane.

"Sassuolo, over the last few seasons, have always been a team that has deserved more than they have got, in terms of final results," Bavagnoli said.

"They are well-coached, they are well organised and they play good football. And they’ve gained a lot of confidence this season, which naturally comes when you are winning games and doing well. So it really won’t be an easy game.”

After last weekend's narrow triumph against Napoli, the Giallorosse seem to have put the building blocks in place to enjoy a better 2021.

“The aim is absolutely to continue this positive start to the new year," Bavagnoli said.

"And as part of that to continue our work on our mentality, on our concentration and determination. They are all areas we have improved on already this year, and I would really like it if we are able to continue that progress.

“It’s clear that we’ve done well in 2021 so far, in terms of performances, but still at times what we have done has not been quite enough.

"We still need to push on and deliver that little bit more that is required to get the results we want."

Saturday's game gets underway at 12:30 CET - and will be shown live on Roma TV+.
