Roma were in form and in control on Sunday evening, as they beat Fiorentina 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi cruised to all three points - in perhaps their most authoritative performance of the season to date - thanks to goals from Leonardo Spinazzola and Pedro Rodriguez, either side of half-time.

Fiorentina defender Lucas Martinez Quarta was also shown a straight red card late on; a sign of the frustration the visitors felt as they were largely outplayed throughout.

It took just 13 minutes for Paulo Fonseca's side to grab the lead, as Spinazzola - latching onto Antonio Mirante's long kick up field - glided into the box before slotting past Bartlomiej Dragowski.

In the second half, with space opening up, a brilliant counter-attack was tapped home by Pedro, as Jordan Veretout, Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all combined brilliantly to create the chance.

The scoreline could have been even bigger - Lorenzo Pellegrini was denied what looked to be a clear penalty, while Dragowski made a fine double stop to deny Rick Karsdorp and Mkhitaryan - but the Giallorossi looked in control throughout nonetheless.

Fonseca's side are back in action on Thursday - they host CFR Cluj at the Olimpico in the Europa League.

Their next Serie A engagement is against Genoa on Sunday.
