Bavagnoli confident side is ready to hit ground running

Roma Women coach Betty Bavagnoli believes fans are in for a treat, when the new Serie A season gets underway against AC Milan on Sunday.

The 2019-20 campaign kicks off with two of the sides harbouring aspirations of a title challenge going head-to-head at Stadio Tre Fontane, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 local time.

Fans around the world can watch the game on the club’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.

With fresh faces in both sides, Bavagnoli believes an exciting, entertaining and unpredictable game is in store.

“Milan have changed a lot over the summer, they changed coach as well,” Bavagnoli told Roma TV.

“They have some very good players and, as always, we will have to show them respect. We will do everything we can to try and start with a win.”

She added: “It should be a great game, between two sides that want to play the right way and have a lot of desire to achieve something important this season. I think the fans that go to the stadium will enjoy the spectacle.”

The Giallorosse completed their pre-season preparations last weekend, drawing 2-2 with Champions League participants Paris Saint-Germain in an entertaining contest.

Bavagnoli believes the squad are now ready to get going with the competitive action.

“We have done a lot of good work during pre-season,” the coach added.

“The final pre-season friendly has given us a few interesting pointers. We start the season in a good place both physically and mentally. After that, it’s all about what happens out on the pitch.”
