Roma to face Real Madrid in Mabel Green Cup

Roma are delighted to confirm that the club will face Real Madrid in the inaugural Mabel Green Cup at the Stadio Olimpico on August 11.

The game will see the 13-time European champions come to the Italian capital, for a star-studded meeting on the eve of the 2019-20 season for both clubs.

Organised by Mabel Sports, the aim of the exhibition match is to raise awareness and promote interest in sustainability, and the protection and longevity of the planet.

As part of the event, proceeds will go towards causes that focus on this cause – the protection of the planet.

The game will get underway at 20:00 local time.

Ticket information for the match will be released at 11:00 Italian time.

The game will see the Giallorossi face Real Madrid for the first time since the group stages of last season’s Champions League. On that occasion both sides reached the knockout rounds of the competition.

The match will also be Roma coach Paulo Fonseca’s first game at the Stadio Olimpico, as he settles in to his new surroundings. Summer signings including Pau Lopez, Leonardo Spinazzola and more could also be in line to make their first appearances at the ground as Roma players.

“It is an honour to have the confidence of the best club in the world, Real Madrid, to be a pioneer once again through this type of action and it is also an enormous privilege that a legendary club like AS Roma has accepted to participate in this first edition,” said Manuel Campos Guallar, co-owner and chief executive of Mabel Capital.

“We hope that people can enjoy a wonderful spectacle at the same time that we become more aware of the protection of our planet."

The game will be Roma's fourth official friendly match of the summer - following games against Perugia, Lille and Athletic Club.
