Grazie, Daniele!

Kostas Manolas: “A captain on and off the pitch! Thank you for everything Daniele, it has been an honour to share the dressing room with you for five years! You will be missed by everyone! I have used a photo from our best night with the Roma shirt. I love you captain!”

Federico Fazio: “You are the best, on and off the pitch. An absolute example for everyone – a true leader. I will miss you.”

Nicolo Zaniolo: "I hadn’t even entered Trigoria for the first time when a message arrived from you saying, ‘Welcome to the family’. And that is really how you made me feel, day after day… thank you, captain, it has been a great privilege to play alongside you.”

Antonio Mirante: “An example for an entire generation, an entire club and all its fans. An amazing opponent, but an even better teammate and captain. An example even for another veteran like me. For someone like you, you cannot wish them anything but the absolute best.”

Javier Pastore: "I can only say thank you Daniele because, even in the short time we have played together, you have always been there. I don’t need to ask anyone to understand what you have done for this club over the last 18 years. I have been lucky to be able to spend a year of my career as your teammate. Beyond everything you are as a player, a true legend, as a person you are a thousand times better. You still have a lot to give somewhere else, either as a player or in the changing room – I wish you the best with whatever you decide to do. Thank you, Dani!”

Alberto Aquilani: "'I remember when I was a boy, dreaming of being Agostino [Di Bartolomei], and kicking fear where it hurts' [a line from a famous Roman song]. A brilliant teammate for so many battles, good luck with everything.”

Vincent Candela: “Morning. That’s life, with it’s ups and its downs. I hope you soar, now and forever.”

Miralem Pjanic: “It’s a story that makes me emotional just to think about. I had the privilege of sharing a bit of your career and for that I will always be grateful. Good luck Daniele! My brother.”

Kevin Strootman: "Thanks for everything captain. You were always an example, for the team and for me. A true leader but, more importantly, a great man. My friend, you are Roma.”

Simone Perrotta: "Many years ago, one day in the middle of the transfer window, in the privacy of the changing room you told me; ‘It’s too strong, I can’t let go of this shirt, I’m too in love with it…’

“Today you need to let go, but you will do it with the same charisma that has always marked you out. I know that it will not be easy to go through this period, but I trust the next part will not be so bad. Your ‘heartbeat’ will still see you achieve great things. Good luck, my friend.”
