    Bavagnoli disappointed after Florentia showing

Roma Women coach Betty Bavagnoli acknowledged that the side had paid the price for a poor first half display, after they lost against Florentia San Gimignano on Sunday evening.

The Giallorosse's four-match winning run was snapped in Tuscany, after goals either side of half-time from the hosts put them in a commanding position.

Lindsey Thomas's second goal of the campaign cut the deficit, but the team were unable to find an equaliser in the closing stages.

"Florentia were more determined than us, they had more courage and conviction," Bavagnoli said.

"In the first half they won every 50-50, we were second to every ball. We weren't strong enough and in Serie A you will pay for that. I am pleased with the response we showed in the second half - but if we had played like that in the first half as well we would not have lost."

The side also appeared to be hampered by the conditions - with rain and wind making an already poor-quality pitch even harder to play on.

"These are all things that are part of the game, if we want to improve we have to impose ourselves in a way we didn't today," Bavagnoli added.

"We weren't determined enough. Now we will have to reflect and really think about where we want to go and what sort of team we want to be. The conditions were what they were, we have to take responsibility and work on getting better."

Bavagnoli's side at least have the chance to make almost immediate amends; next weekend league leaders Juventus are the visitors to Stadio Tre Fontane.

A victory for the Giallorosse would change the entire complexion of the league table.

"Facing Juventus next gives us the chance to get over the mental mistakes we made today," Bavagnoli said.

"We need to play very differently and we'll have to prepare a few different things tactically too. In the second half today we had four clear-cut chances and we didn't make the most of them.

"Either we believe in ourselves and really focus on making that step in quality, or we will never progress."
