Alisson praises Olsen after being named Goalkeeper of the Season

Former Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker had some praise for his successor this week, after he was named Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year for the 2017-18 season.

Alisson, now at Liverpool, returned to Italy on Monday night for the annual Gran Gala del Calcio - an awards ceremony that celebrates the best of Italian football each season.

The Brazil international was selected as the best goalkeeper in Serie A last term, and took to the stage to accept the award.

"A big thank you to Roma for having brought me to this level," Alisson said.

It's a pleasure to see so many friends again here tonight. I always want to take this chance to say a big thank you to [Roma goalkeeper coach] Marco Savorani, who helped me improve to where I am now."

Speaking afterwards to journalists, he added: “I had a great time at Roma and I enoyed a big season for them last season.

"Robin Olsen? He is doing great. I try to follow Roma as much as I can.

“I miss the club but I am happy to be at Liverpool. It was a big move for me and for my family and we are all very happy right now.”
