    Esports: Roma sign ‘Alekzandur’

AS Roma and Fnatic are happy to announce that American gamer Alex ‘Alekzandur’ Betancourt has joined the Roma Esports team.

Betancourt, who last represented MLS club Sporting Kansas City, joins the Giallorossi just in time for the FIFA 19 competitive cycle to begin. ‘Alekzandur’ made headlines last year as the only player from the United States to qualify for the 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final. He finished in the top eight at the Global Series Playoffs in Amsterdam last May after winning six of seven group stage matches and defeating 'Schwenker1991' in the first knockout round.

A few of his other accolades from last year include placing in the top four at the inaugural eMLS Cup and pulling out a clutch 40-0 in the Last Chance Qualifying Weekend League in order to secure his spot in the Global Series Playoffs.

Alex is very excited to join Roma and Fnatic: "Bringing success to my hometown club in my debut year was a huge accomplishment for me, but now it’s time to push myself abroad. This is one of the biggest clubs in Europe as well as one of the biggest organisations in esports, so it’s a huge honour to be entrusted with so much belief. I’m stoked to become a part of such an ambitious project and I can’t wait to show what I got."
