Dzeko: We need to keep on winning

Edin Dzeko called for more consistency from Roma, in the wake of Tuesday’s 3-0 win over CSKA Moscow.

Dzeko scored twice – moving him to five goals already in the Champions League this season – to help drive the side towards victory, as Cengiz Under grabbed the night’s other goal.

Speaking afterwards, Dzeko was asked how the side could go from losing at the weekend at home to SPAL to making it seven straight home wins in the Champions League against CSKA.

“It’s the best competition of them all,” Dzeko said.

“It’s difficult to say why [we perform so well], when three days ago we need to do more to win against SPAL. Today we gave everything – clearly we need to find more consistency, both personally and as a team.”

He added: “Today’s result doesn’t change our job. We need to keep winning and we know it will be another tough game in Moscow that we need to go out and win all over again.”

As he moved to 80 goals for the Giallorossi – and up to ninth in the club’s list of all-time leading goalscorers – Dzeko remained focused on the improvements that the team still needs to make.

“We know that we had a bad game [at the weekend], although it’s not easy to win against anyone,” he added. “We need to get better, and be more consistent. We are doing well in the Champions League so far, I’m pleased but we can still do much better.”
