New 3rd kit honours heritage of Italian Capital

Kit

The specific shade of the shirt and shorts’ dominant colour evokes a revered symbol of the club and the Italian capital – the she-wolf, La Lupa, and her grey coat. This connection has been already celebrated through the club’s 2015-16 away kit.

This emblem of the city features in Roma’s famed crest which depicts the wolf feeding the twin brothers Romulus and Remus. In Roman mythology, Romulus founded Rome in 753 BC after both brothers had been sheltered by the she-wolf in their hour of need.

A black ombré graphic accentuates the light grey, blending from the cuffs of the short and shirt. During night games, this effect serves to accentuate the players’ physical presence underneath the floodlights.

This dark aesthetic is also present in a pair of stripes running down the sides of the kit, from underneath the armpit down to the hem of the shorts, whilst black socks with dark grey tonal chevrons on the calf further frame the block of light grey that forms the players’ bodies.

A lightweight crafted crew neck collar caps the kit, whilst the two-tone colour light grey and black scheme that runs throughout the shirt, shorts and socks is a also reflected in the crest – this is rendered in black and grey embroidery.

The new AS ROMA kit will debut on the pitch on against FC BATE Borisov on September 29th and will be available on sale from October 1st at asromastore.it, nike.com, all AS Roma stores and Nike official retailers.
