AS Roma is pleased to announce that Brazilian left-back Emerson Palmieri has joined the club on loan from Santos.
The Brazilian defender already has experience of Italy's top division, having played for Palermo last season, making nine appearances.
Palmieri came through the Santos academy and made his first-team debut at 17. He has made 30 appearances in the Paulista championship and the Brazilian Serie A, scoring three goals.
Emerson becomes the Giallorossi's tenth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Iago Falque, Wojciech Szczesny, Edin Džeko, Mohamed Salah, Antonio Rüdiger, Norbert Gyömbér, Lucas Digne, William Vainqueur and Ezequiel Ponce.
Here is an extract from the new defender's first interview with Roma TV: “Roma are a successful club and they will have one more warrior on the pitch. I will fight for every minute of every match I play in.”
