Ante Coric's first interview as a Roma player

Ante Coric cannot wait to play in front of 'the best fans in Europe', after he completed his transfer to Roma on Monday.

The Croatia international, 21, signed a five-year deal with the Giallorossi - becoming the first summer signing for the Champions League semi-finalists.

And, after seeing Eusebio Di Francesco's side perform so well in Europe last season, the young midfielder cannot wait to get started in his new surroundings.

"I’m feeling great," Coric told Roma TV. "I am at one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I feel very good.

"I did everything to get here, and I can’t wait to start.

"I can’t explain what the feeling is like. I just cannot wait to get started. In Croatia Roma are very popular. Everyone knows that AS Roma fans are the best fans in Europe."

Despite having already amassed almost 150 senior appearances for club and country, the youngster knows he still has a lot of learning to do.

"It’s better to show my talent on the pitch, and let others judge who I am like," he said. "I think defence is the most important skill I have to improve, there are many others but the first one is defence.

"[Luka] Modric is an idol [of mine], and Totti too – he was here before, and he has stopped [playing] now, but he was one of the best midfielders ever."

While Totti may no longer be on the pitch, Coric is looking forward to playing alongside the current Roma stars.

"I think it was an incredible season for Roma and I am very happy to be here," he added.

"I like [Edin] Dzeko because he is from where I am from. But I like all the players: El Shaarawy, De Rossi, many more. Forza Roma!"
