Roma heading back to the United States to play in 2018 International Champions Cup

IAMG

AS Roma is delighted to confirm it will once again participate in the International Champions Cup this summer.

For the third straight year, the Giallorossi will be heading to North America in July for its pre-season tour – playing against some of the biggest sides in the world in an event that has become football’s premier exhibition tournament.

Opponents, match dates and venues for the 2018 ICC tournament will be revealed in due course.

“Traditionally the International Champions Cup has brought to the United States, and other parts of the world, the very best sides in Europe,” Roma chief executive Umberto Gandini said.

“Roma have once again received the invite to play and that is an acknowledgement of the great work being done by the club on and off the pitch.

“We are very pleased to once again be able to bring our squad closer to supporters who follow us so passionately from a distance.”

This will mark the fourth time the Giallorossi have competed in the ICC, having previously participated in the 2014, 2015 and 2017 events.

Last season Roma played European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus in three memorable contests on the East Coast – going undefeated over 90 minutes after beating Spurs and drawing the other two clashes.

Further details about this year’s ICC tournament will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
