Peres pleased as focus pays off

Bruno Peres credited the focus and determination of his teammates for Saturday's 3-0 win over SPAL.

The Giallorossi made it two wins out of two for the week, thanks to strikes from Radja Nainggolan and Patrik Schick - along with an early SPAL own goal.

The win kept Eusebio Di Francesco's side on track in the race for Champions League qualification - and served as ideal preparation for Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg against Liverpool.

“At half time we said we had to keep playing the same way and not let our effort or focus levels drop," Peres said.

"We knew that if we let them score it would give them belief. We stayed focused right till the end and didn't give them an inch.”

How do you see the game against Liverpool?

“We have to tell ourselves we can do it and really believe. We must remember that if we're in the semi-finals it's because we deserve to be there. If we keep our heads down and carry on working hard we can go even further.”

You played against Barcelona at Camp Nou. Do you think you'll start at Anfield too?

“It will be no easier at Anfield than it was at Barcelona. We must defend well because they're an excellent side but we also need to be smart. I'll be ready to give my all whether I play from the start or not. I'll do whatever the boss wants from me.”

Have those of you who are friends with Mohamed Salah spoken to him recently?

“[Kostas] Manolas speaks to him most. We've warned him not to do anything special or he'll be for it!”

Does knowing Salah give you a slight advantage?

“We know what he's capable of and we know he's in brilliant form. We have to remember that he's a constant threat but they're going to have to worry about us too because we didn't get this far by chance.”
