Due to the severe weather warning issued for the Genoa area on Saturday, this weekend's Serie A match between Sampdoria and Roma has been postponed.

The city council (Comune di Genova) took the decision, based on the 'orange' weather warning issued by the Met Office due to incoming rain and thunderstorms, to limit the danger to local residents and the general public.

The weather forecast in Liguria on Saturday is for extremely heavy rainfall between 14:00 and 23:59 CEST. The game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris was due to kick-off at 20:45.

More details on when the game will now be played will be released in due course.

Eusebio Di Francesco's squad were due to travel to Genoa on Friday evening. They will now remain in the capital, and train at Trigoria on both Saturday and Sunday.

The club's next game is against Atletico Madrid at the Stadio Olimpico in the Champions League on Tuesday.
