The club can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg for the transfer of midfielder Leandro Paredes.

Zenit will pay an initial fee of €23 million for the 23-year-old. The deal includes various performance-related clauses, related to both the club and the player, that could be worth up to an additional €4m.

Paredes, a product of the Boca Juniors academy, made his debut for the Giallorossi in September 2014.

He spent the 2015-16 season on loan at Empoli, where he was one of the key players as the Tuscan side finished 10th in Serie A.

Last summer he returned to Roma, serving as a member of the 2016-17 first-team squad that ultimately finished second in Serie A.

In total he made 54 appearances for Roma, scoring four goals. This month he also made his international debut for Argentina, appearing in a friendly win over Singapore.

The club wishes Leandro well for the future.
