De Rossi banned for two matches

Daniele De Rossi will serve a two-match suspension after being sent off during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Genoa

The Giallorossi captain was dismissed midway through the second half at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, after referee Piero Giacomelli consulted with VAR to review an incident in the penalty box with Genoa forward Gianluca Lapadula.

De Rossi will now miss the forthcoming games against SPAL and Chievo Verona.

De Rossi apologised for the incident on Sunday evening.

“It’s a moment that I’m incredibly sorry about,” De Rossi said. “There’s not much to say: we were tussling, I tried to block him with an arm – the footage is ugly.

“I have to apologise to my teammates, the coach and the fans. I am very sorry – but we will have to bounce back from this.”
