Perotti on his rabona goal: It was meant to be a cross!

Perot

Diego Perotti revealed that his remarkable rabona goal was not exactly deliberate in the aftermath of Roma's 4-1 win over Viktoria Plzen.

The victory, which secured the Giallorossi's spot in the knockout rounds of the competition, was clinched with Perotti's 82nd minute strike - an audacious right-footed rabona lob that had the entire Stadio Olimpico shaking their heads in disbelief.

"The truth is that I tried to cross it," Perotti admitted afterwards. "But it's good that it went in – for the team, because it killed off the game, and for me because until then I had only scored from penalties."

Roma's attacking threat overwhelmed the opposition today. Are you aware of the ability you have?

"We know that we have a fantastic team. Everyone who comes in off the bench does well and that means we don't just have a good starting XI. We all have to be fully concentrated to play at 100%. Today we proved that when we put everything into our performance, it's difficult to stop this Roma side. We need to perform like this in every match; talking the right game is not enough. We hope to use today's victory as a starting point."

Are you intent on trying to win the Europa League?

"Of course! A team like ours has to try to win every competition it enters. I know what we say to each other in the changing room and we want to win the Europa League, Serie A and the Coppa Italia. I think we have the team to do it, we need to stop talking and starting playing and winning. I can tell you that 100% we want to win everything."
